Area figures show up to 6 decimal places. Whole tile and box counts use unrounded values; a small floating-point tolerance protects exact integer boundaries.
Assumptions and method
For each rectangle, subtract the entered untiled area, then add all net areas. Divide the total area plus waste by one tile’s face area and round up to whole tiles. Divide by tiles per box and round up again.
This is an area-based purchase estimate. It pools tiles across rooms and does not plan rows, grout joints, patterns, cuts or reusable offcuts. Grout joints are ignored, which can increase the area-based tile count. Diagonal layouts, narrow strips and fragile tiles may need more waste. Check a layout and your supplier’s stated box coverage before ordering.
